The Controls Engineer designs and drafts systems of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls for machines and equipment, such as arc welders, robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers, applying knowledge of electricity, electronics, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Closely monitoring the progress of the machine from concept through machine acceptance on the customer’s floor.
The Fluids Design Engineer conceptualizes the pneumatics, hydraulics, and other fluids control system design by studying product blueprints, manufacturing processes, and customer specifications. The Fluids Design Engineer confers with the customer, engineering staff, and controls technicians during a project, and recommends design modifications to eliminate fluids control system malfunctions.
The Project Engineer leads, directs, and manages technical assignments and is responsible for leading the efforts of personnel to complete the project tasks. The Project Engineer assures all external sources, engineering support, or equipment complies with project and contrast specifications, proposal, and internal procedures and standards.
A Controls Builder is responsible for the layout, wiring, testing, and occasional design of low and high voltage electrical panels that may include PLC’s, machine controllers, motion controllers, variable frequency drives (VFD’s) and other components commonly found in electrical control systems. A Controls Builder also mount electronic components and interconnection of electrical components, and install pneumatics, hydraulics and other assembly tasks.
